自己紹介

Dr Emma Veale is a Senior Research Fellow and Royal Society Industry Fellow with nearly 30 years of experience spanning basic and applied health research. Her early career focused on the physiology and pharmacology of ion channels, employing techniques such as patch-clamp electrophysiology, molecular biology, and pharmacological screening. Over the past decade, her research has expanded to include both quantitative and qualitative research in primary care, with a strong emphasis on developing applied patient-centred interventions. Her current research interests includes opioid stewardship initiatives in primary care settings, the integration of digital technologies for the early detection and management of atrial fibrillation in at-risk populations, and the discovery and characterisation of novel ion channel modulators for the treatment of clinical and inherited disorders. Dr Veale’s work has received national recognition, including featuring on a special addition of BBC Southeast News. She has been the recipient of multiple awards, including two from the Atrial Fibrillation Association, and a prestigious Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) award in 2019, for the inspirational use of new technology in health research.
