Marjorie’s training as an organic chemist with a background in biology led her to join LNBio in 2012 to support the Chagas disease group in the design and synthesis of bioactive compounds. In 2018, she integrated LNBio’s Drug Discovery Platform, leading medicinal chemistry efforts in oncology and also supporting the natural products chemistry team. More recently projects include the fields of inflammation, metabolic and infectious diseases. As group leader in Medicinal Chemistry, her main activities involve the analysis of biological assay data, the design and synthesis of new chemical series through the hit-2-lead and lead optimization phases to yield preclinical drug candidates. She also works on developing new fluorescent probes for bioassays relevant to Drug Discovery projects.
