自己紹介

I am Dr Mpho Shelile, a Mosotho national and a nurse-midwife with a PhD in Nursing, currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Nursing at the National University of Lesotho. Alongside my professional responsibilities, I am a father of three, a role that shapes my commitment to health, education, and social development. I am a solution-oriented nursing professional with experience across clinical practice, nursing education, health programme implementation, institutional leadership, and health systems strengthening. I am committed to multidisciplinary teams that support national health policies aimed at improving population health outcomes, promoting social development, and strengthening health system performance. My professional career spans clinical, academic, training, and industry environments. I began my career at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, where I worked as a nurse-midwife providing patient care, supervising staff, evaluating professional practice, and delivering in-service training to improve clinical standards. In this role, I contributed to the implementation of Ministry of Health guidelines and supported service delivery improvements at departmental level. I later served at the National Health Training College, where I undertook academic and administrative responsibilities. My work included teaching and mentoring nursing students, supporting curriculum implementation, contributing to institutional governance processes, analysing academic data, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders. I subsequently worked at Nestlé Nutrition South Africa, gaining experience within a regulated manufacturing and public health nutrition environment. I applied professional detailing skills and product knowledge to educate healthcare professionals on the Nestlé Healthcare Nutrition portfolio, in compliance with regulations governing infant and young child nutrition. I provided evidence-based education while upholding ethical marketing standards. Currently, at NUL, I am involved in teaching, curriculum delivery, student supervision, research, and academic leadership. I have managed five large donor-funded projects, overseeing planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting with national and international partners. Throughout my career, I have held leadership roles, including serving as Secretary-General and President of the Lesotho Nurses Association, and as a board member of professional and academic bodies. I am also an Immunization Advocacy Champion and have supported the World Health Organization-Lesotho as an Independent Monitor of vaccination campaigns. My professional and research interests include nursing practice, nursing administration and management, nursing education, health systems and policy, quality healthcare, and patient safety, reflecting a commitment to strengthening nursing capacity and improving health outcomes at institutional, national, and regional levels through leadership, research, and collaborative practice initiatives in diverse professional settings globally.
