After obtaining a PharmD degree from Ghent University in 2007, a doctoral research project in medicinal chemistry was initiated with IWT funding, culminating in the 2011 PhD thesis: "Synthesis of Pyrimidine Nucleosides and Nucleotides with Therapeutic Potential." Since 2013, active as a lecturer at Odisee University College, with a research focus expanding in 2021 to include citizen science and plastic pollution. Currently coordinating the PLONS citizen science project (2024–2026), which aims to raise awareness among young children regarding plastic pollution. This project is funded by the Scheldemond Fund.
