2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate

2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA) is supplied by Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Shanghai Commerce Limited as a colorless, aromatic-smelling liquid used in coating compounds, photosensitive resins, and contact lens manufacturing (MW 130, boiling point 205°C, purity no less than 97.0%). It readily dissolves in water but polymerizes under sunlight and heat, and the supplier, which does not manufacture the compound itself, distributes it across North America, Europe, Australasia, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
