This human hepatitis B immunoglobulin is manufactured with a low-pH incubation step for viral inactivation, stabilized with glycine and free of antiseptics or antibiotics. It is indicated for post-exposure prophylaxis after percutaneous or permucosal exposure to HBsAg-positive or suspected-positive material (e.g., needle-stick, ingestion or sexual exposure), for prophylaxis in infants born to HBsAg-positive mothers, and for hepatitis B prophylaxis generally, including in liver transplantation. It is available in 400 IU/4 mL, 200 IU/2 mL and 100 IU/1 mL vial strengths, and is also used for post-exposure prophylaxis in unvaccinated individuals, those with incomplete vaccination, or those with inadequate antibody titers (below 10 IU/L).
