InhaLac is a lactose grade particularly suited to pulmonary and nasal drug delivery. Inhalation aerosols offer needle-free systemic delivery potential for small-molecule drugs as well as therapeutic peptides and proteins, and lactose monohydrate, an industry standard in dry powder inhaler (DPI) formulation development, is safely used in DPI formulations. As an excipient, lactose both improves inhaler performance and eases powder handling during manufacturing, since a dry powder inhaler's effectiveness largely depends on the carrier material used in the drug formulation.
