Pervaporation separates liquid mixtures using a selective, dense membrane: applying a vacuum or purge gas flow on one side draws volatile compounds in the liquid on the other side to diffuse selectively across it. Because it relies on a dense membrane rather than distillation, it is energy-efficient and unconstrained by azeotropic limits. The Secoya Pervaporation Tool suits applications such as liquid/liquid separation involving temperature-sensitive bio-based products (e.g., extracting alcohol or water), continuous removal of volatile compounds during fermentation or reaction (or feeding reactants through the membrane) in chemical and bioprocesses, and gas perfusion for bioreactions.
