Aris Dermitzakis holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MSc and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Patras and the National Technical University of Athens. He has been a core member of the Biomedical Technology Unit since 2008, contributing to research in medical imaging, artificial intelligence, and health technology assessment.
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Biomedical Technology (INBIT) and Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Medical Equipment Management and Assessment (2026–2030). His work focuses on the development of national-scale medical equipment management systems, including Web-Praxis, and on supporting healthcare systems through policy, assessment, and innovation.
He has participated in numerous European and national research projects (FP7, NSRF, H.F.R.I., TEMPUS), authored over 35 publications, and contributed to WHO initiatives on medical devices and healthcare technology management. He is actively involved in the international clinical engineering community through IFMBE Clinical Engineering Division.
