Benjamin P. Danek is a researcher and engineer specializing in human-centric artificial intelligence for healthcare and scientific applications. He is currently Co-Founder and Head of Engineering at Keiji AI Inc., a SaaS platform that accelerates research operations through AI-enabled tools for pharmaceutical companies, generating $1M in revenue in 2025. Danek holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Arizona State University (2017-2021, Magna Cum Laude) and pursued graduate studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign under Professor Jimeng Sun before taking leave to focus on his entrepreneurial ventures. His research interests span three key areas: generative AI systems including language models and resource-augmented generation; predictive modeling with emphasis on privacy and fairness in clinical and multi-omics applications; and distributed systems including multi-agent architectures and federated learning. His work has been published in venues such as Patterns, npj Digital Medicine, and at major conferences including ACM SIGKDD. Previously, Danek served as a Machine Learning Research Scientist at the Center for Alzheimer's and Related Dementias (CARD) at the National Institutes of Health, where he developed federated learning approaches for neurodegenerative disease classification. He also worked as a Software Engineer at New Relic Inc., developing large-scale error tracking systems. As an Eastern European immigrant, Danek brings a multicultural perspective to his collaborative research approach. He is a contributor to PyHealth, an open-source healthcare AI toolkit, and has received recognition including the Intramural Research Training Award from the National Institute of Aging and 2nd place at the 3rd Coast AI for Health Bowl.
