Dr. Inci Zaim Gökbay received her B.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering from Işık University in 2002, her M.Sc. degree with honors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bahçeşehir University in 2007, and her Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Institute of Graduate Studies in Science at Istanbul University in 2013. She also holds a second M.Sc. degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kent. Between 2004 and 2014, she served at the Faculty of Engineering and the Vocational School of Bahçeşehir University. Since July 2014, she has been a faculty member at the Department of Informatics, Istanbul University. Between 2015 and 2018, she taught undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level courses in both English and Turkish at the Faculty of Engineering, Istanbul University. She is a founding faculty member of the Developmental Behavioral Disorders and Integrated Approach Ph.D. program at the Institute of Health Sciences, Istanbul University. She was also a visiting researcher at the ICSS Center, University of Kent, between October 2023 and November 2024. Dr. Zaim Gökbay has secured funding for multiple research projects, including two projects supported by the Istanbul Development Agency, two projects funded by the Istanbul University Research Fund, and three projects supported by other institutions. She has also served as a researcher and consultant on European Union–funded and international research projects. Under her supervision, one doctoral dissertation and eight master’s theses have been completed, with six doctoral dissertations currently ongoing. Her scholarly output includes 11 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, 21 international conference papers, and 11 book chapters published by national and international publishers. In addition, she has authored 11 articles in national peer-reviewed journals and presented four papers at national conferences. Her research interests include biomedical technology and system design, machine learning and artificial intelligence, medical image and signal processing, clinical decision support systems, smart and integrated mental health systems, child and adolescent safety in virtual environments, and metaverse safety frameworks.
