Iam Dr. Jaya Ranjalkar, currently Assistant Professor in the department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, Christian Medical College, Vellore. I was the former Interim Director of ReAct Asia Pacific (RAP) and a member of ReAct’s global leaders’ group (R-GLG) for 2023. The Asia Pacific node of ReAct, namely, RAP, was hosted at the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), Vellore, India, and was been operational since 2017 under the leadership of Dr. Sujith J Chandy (Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, CMCH, Vellore).I am a trained medical doctor and have specialised in M.D. Pharmacology from CMC Vellore, India, in 2016. During my postgraduate thesis, I studied the pharmacokinetics of two antitubercular drugs for different regimens in children. I worked as a short-term consultant for the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) in India from August to December 2016. I conducted research and stakeholder interviews with antivenom manufacturers and delivered a report titled ‘Snake-bite and market landscape of anti-venom in India – A situational analysis’.I joined the RAP in May 2017 and worked on various aspects of antimicrobial resistance until 2023. I also held the position of ‘Senior research officer’ at the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, CMC Vellore, from May 2017 to October 2021. Here I served as co-PI for a ICMR project titled ‘ICMR - Rational Use of Medicines (RUMC) task force’ from 2019 to 2022.My areas of interest include Antimicrobial Resistance, Rational Use of Medicines, Fixed-Dose Combinations (FDCs), Pharmacovigilance and Public Health Policy and Planning."
