Lecturer

Nuha Kattan is a specialist in Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry with extensive academic and research experience in pharmaceutical analysis and laboratory sciences. Dr. Kattan studied Biochemistry at the Faculty of Science, University of Aleppo from 2002 to 2006, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. She then pursued her Master’s degree in Chemical Sciences between 2007 and 2009, followed by a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from 2010 to 2013 at the same university. During her Master’s and PhD studies, Dr. Kattan worked in the Analytical Biochemistry Research Laboratory under the supervision of her academic advisor, where she taught practical sessions in Analytical Biochemistry and participated in laboratory-based research and student training. Following the completion of her PhD in 2013, Dr. Kattan worked as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Science, University of Aleppo, in both the Chemistry and Natural Sciences departments for ten years (2013–2023). During this period, she taught undergraduate students, supervised practical laboratory sessions, and contributed to academic and scientific activities within the faculty. Dr. Kattan published several scientific papers in the Journal of Aleppo University and other peer-reviewed scientific journals. Her research focused on the development of new analytical methods for the determination of pharmaceutical compounds using Gas Chromatography (GC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Her work also involved pharmaceutical quality control, analytical validation, and laboratory applications in pharmaceutical analysis. In addition to her academic career, Dr. Kattan worked at Alpha Pharmaceutical, where she held several scientific and managerial positions, including Scientific Laboratory Manager, Head of Research and Development, and Stability Studies Manager. She contributed to the development and registration of new pharmaceutical products, implementation of ISO quality systems, laboratory team training, and enhancement of pharmaceutical analytical procedures. Dr. Kattan also served as a scientific auditor and reviewer for research and translated scientific materials at the Syrian Society for Scientific Research, contributing to the development of scientific and educational content in chemistry. Alongside her academic and scientific career, Dr. Kattan has also participated in humanitarian and educational initiatives supporting community development and capacity building in Syria. She managed several educational projects aimed at supporting children and youth and facilitating the return of school dropouts to the educational system, contributing to improved access to education and greater educational stability for vulnerable communities. She also focused on strengthening the capacities of educational staff through the design and implementation of specialized training programs, which contributed to improving teaching skills, educational quality, and approaches to supporting children in crisis-affected environments. Throughout her career, Dr. Kattan has combined academic expertise, scientific research, and community engagement, reflecting her commitment to advancing education, scientific development, and social impact simultaneously.
