Dr. Sinead Devery is a lecturer and principal investigator in the Department of Life & Physical Sciences at Athlone Institute of Technology. Her research interests lie within the Bioscience Research Institute (BRI) in the Faculty of Science & Health and the Materials Research Institute (MRI) in the Faculty of Engineering & Informatics and include, the study of DNA damage & Repair Mechanisms, epigenetic mechanisms of carcinogenesis, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) detection and gene expression screening, stem cell technology, gene therapy, biocompatibility testing of biomaterials and tissue engineering. She has taught a wide range of subjects on Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Science and Biotechnology-related programmes at Athlone Institute of Technology. Dr. Devery, who has a BSc (Hons) in Toxicology and a PhD in Genetic Toxicology, worked in industry with Alkermes before pursuing a career in academia with Athlone Institute of Technology.
