Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention

Public health agency of the African Union with its head office in Addis Ababa, launched in 2017 and made an autonomous body in 2023, with regional collaborating centres across the continent. Coordinates disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness and emergency response for member states, runs laboratory networks and the regional integrated surveillance and laboratory network, supports the African Medicines Agency and regulatory harmonisation, works on local vaccine and medicine manufacturing and builds public health workforce and institutional capacity.
