Turkish public university at Diyarbakır in the south east of the country, founded in 1973 and named after the river Tigris. Teaches through its faculty of pharmacy, its faculty of medicine, its faculty of dentistry and its faculties of science, veterinary medicine and engineering, runs the Dicle University Hospital for clinical teaching and trials, and carries out research in pharmaceutical sciences, medicinal plants of the region and clinical medicine.
