Research organisation of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis, created in 2002 as the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research with its headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts and further sites in Basel, San Diego, Shanghai and elsewhere, and renamed Novartis Biomedical Research in 2023. Runs the group's drug discovery and early development across oncology, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular and renal disease and infectious disease, including chemical biology, genomics, structural biology and cell and gene therapy platforms, and hands candidates to global drug development for clinical trials.
