Rite Aid Corporation

American drugstore chain founded in 1962 at Scranton, Pennsylvania as Thrift D Discount Center, renamed Rite Aid in 1968 and long the third largest pharmacy chain in the United States, latterly headquartered at Philadelphia. Operated thousands of community pharmacies dispensing prescriptions and selling over the counter medicines, vitamins and health and beauty products, together with the Elixir pharmacy benefit management business and the Health Dialog services arm. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, emerged in 2024 and filed again in 2025, since when it has been winding down and selling its pharmacy files and stores.
