Schering-Plough

American pharmaceutical company with its head office at Kenilworth in New Jersey, formed in 1971 when the American arm of the German Schering merged with the Memphis maker Plough and merged into Merck & Co. in 2009. Made and sold prescription medicines including the antihistamine loratadine, the cholesterol products ezetimibe and its combinations, interferon and hepatitis treatments, together with consumer health products such as Coppertone and Dr Scholl's, and ran research laboratories and manufacturing in the United States and abroad.
