American pharmaceutical research organisation, the research arm of Schering-Plough Corporation, headquartered at Kenilworth in New Jersey with further sites at Union and Lafayette in that state, at Palo Alto in California and at Cambridge in Massachusetts. Ran discovery and development across infectious disease, immunology and inflammation, oncology, cardiovascular and central nervous system disease, producing medicines including boceprevir, ezetimibe and pegylated interferon alfa-2b, and was absorbed into Merck Research Laboratories after Merck & Co acquired Schering-Plough in 2009.
