Shanghai Xuhui Central Hospital

Chinese tertiary general hospital in Xuhui district, Shanghai, founded in 1934 as the Hongqiao Sanatorium built by Ding Fubao and Ding Huikang, renamed Shanghai Huaihai Hospital in 1958 and given its present name in 1961, and additionally named Xuhui Hospital of Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University since the medical alliance formed in April 2016. It has thirty two clinical specialties and more than nine hundred beds with cardiology and rehabilitation among the Shanghai key specialties and a traditional Chinese medicine department of national standing, and in January 2024 moved from Huaihai Middle Road to the new Southern Medical Center on Longchuan North Road. It is a national drug clinical trial institution with an internationalised phase one trial ward built with the Shanghai Clinical Research Center, its central laboratory was in the first group approved by the drug regulator for phase one trials and testing and holds both WHO good clinical practice and good laboratory practice recognition, it runs a clinical mass spectrometry and metabolic analysis platform, and since 2009 it has built translational research centres with institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which established the CAS Shanghai Clinical Research Center there in January 2013. It also launched Xuhui Cloud Hospital in 2015 and in February 2020 became the first public hospital in Shanghai licensed as an internet hospital.
