Chinese public research university in Tianjin, founded in 1895 as Peiyang University and the first modern university in China, with campuses at Weijin Road and Beiyangyuan. Strong in engineering and chemistry, its School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and School of Chemical Engineering and Technology work on drug discovery, synthetic biology, pharmaceutical process engineering and crystallisation, in close cooperation with the Chinese pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
