Italian public university at Catania in Sicily, founded in 1434 and the oldest university on the island. Teaches pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry and technology through its department of drug and health sciences, together with medicine, biology, chemistry and biotechnology, works with the Policlinico university hospital for clinical teaching and trials, and carries out research in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical technology and natural products.
