French public university in Nantes in the Loire-Atlantique, founded in 1461, refounded in 1961 and reorganised as Nantes Université in 2022 with the merger of local engineering and research institutions. Teaches through its faculties of medicine, pharmacy, odontology and science, trains pharmacists and doctors to degree and doctoral level, works with the Nantes university hospital for clinical teaching, trials and its regional pharmacovigilance centre, and carries out research in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, immunology and transplantation with its own laboratories and joint units.
