American public research university in Berkeley, California, founded in 1868 as the founding campus of the University of California system. Teaches and researches across chemistry, molecular and cell biology, bioengineering, public health, engineering, business, law and the humanities, and its chemistry, chemical and biomolecular engineering and bioengineering departments together with the Innovative Genomics Institute and QB3 support drug discovery, biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical process research, alongside a joint medical programme with the University of California San Francisco.
