American public research university in Davis, California, founded in 1905 as the university farm of the University of California and made a general campus in 1959, known for agriculture, veterinary medicine and the life sciences. Runs the School of Veterinary Medicine, the largest in the country, the School of Medicine with UC Davis Health in Sacramento, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Biological Sciences, with research in pharmacology and toxicology, veterinary pharmacology, food science, plant natural products and clinical trials.
