US Navy

Maritime service branch of the United States armed forces under the Department of the Navy, with its headquarters at the Pentagon in Washington DC and roots in the Continental Navy of 1775. Runs its own medical service and research organisation, including the Naval Medical Research Command and its units, which carry out research in toxicology and occupational and environmental health, infectious disease, undersea and aerospace medicine, drug and vaccine development and biological threat countermeasures, and operates medical centres and laboratories in the United States and abroad.
