MFDS Marks ‘Cosmetics Day’ with K‑Beauty Showcase, Emphasizes Global Growth

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), led by Director Oh Yu‑kyung, organized a ceremony on September 7 to mark the legally designated “Cosmetics Day.” The event, titled “Confident K‑Beauty, Blooming,” was held at The Plaza Hotel in Jung‑gu, Seoul. Attendees shared recent achievements of Korea’s K‑beauty sector and reaffirmed commitments to expand into global markets. The government designated September 7—the anniversary of the Cosmetics Act’s enactment—as “Cosmetics Day” to raise public awareness of the industry’s policy importance, enhance consumer understanding of product safety, and strengthen international competitiveness. This designation follows a legal amendment on April 1 of the previous year, making 2024 the second year the day is officially observed.
