Patients who experienced severe adverse reactions such as Stevens‑Johnson syndrome, anaphylactic shock and Dress syndrome after receiving certain medicines have recently been approved for compensation under the Pharmacy Act. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) disclosed the results of the 5th Drug Adverse Reaction Review Committee for 2026 on 2 May 2026. The committee confirmed that cases involving amodafinil, modafinil, trimethoprim‑sulfamethoxazole and lamotrigine that led to Stevens‑Johnson syndrome, as well as reactions to ceftriaxone, acetaminophen, epinephrine and other agents that caused anaphylactic shock, are eligible for damage‑relief benefits.
