Alexandra Degraeve is a pharmacist who trained at the Université de Namur (Bachelor 2013-2016) and the Université de Liège (Master, 2016-2018) in Belgium. During her PhD as a FNRS fellow at UCLouvain (2019-2023), she focused her research on the contribution of the gut microbiota to tacrolimus pharmacokinetics, an immunosuppressive drug used in transplanted patients, from mechanistic to clinical investigations. During her postdoc as a BAEF fellow at UCSF (USA), she studied the interactions between gut microbes and methotrexate in the context of rheumatoid arthritis (2024-2026). Now, she returned to UCLouvain to investigate drug pharmacokinetics in the context of cancer cachexia.
