I am a registered NHS pharmacist practising across multiple Scottish health boards, with a special interest in health literacy, preventative cardiovascular health, and the implementation of evidence-based clinical tools in community care settings. My clinical practice is the foundation of my research interests. Working daily in community pharmacy across Scotland, I regularly encounter patients with undetected cardiovascular risk who fall through the gaps of existing NHS screening pathways. This observation drives a question that sits at the heart of my work: if the clinical tools to identify these patients already exist and are trusted by GPs, why are so few people actually receiving cardiovascular risk assessment? I am particularly drawn to Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovations framework as applied to NHS health technology adoption. Closing the implementation gap — rather than developing new science personally, is what motivates me. This led me to develop CorScore, a patient-held cardiovascular risk platform deploying NHS-validated algorithms into community care settings, and to submit a NIHR i4i FAST application in April 2026 to fund a formal community pharmacy integration pilot. I am committed to health equity and reaching the underserved populations who carry the highest cardiovascular burden but are least likely to be reached by existing services. Aspirationally, I intend to pursue further research into implementation science building on this work, with the goal of publishing in primary care, pharmacy practice, and digital health journals. I hope to contribute meaningfully to the evidence base for community-based preventive health and to the broader agenda of closing the gap between clinical evidence and population health outcomes.
