I am passionate about creating micro- and nanorobotic systems that address pressing unmet needs in medicine, particularly in oncology and neurology. My work focuses on engineering minimally invasive therapeutic and diagnostic technologies that can operate deep within the body, enabling interventions that are currently inaccessible with conventional tools. During my PhD, I have worked extensively on magnetic microrobotics for disease treatment, developing systems that combine high-precision navigation, therapeutic actuation, and real-time multimodal imaging. My research spans FePt-based magnetic nanoparticles with high drug-loading capacity for crossing the blood–brain barrier, photoacoustic-visible magnetic micro-actuators for radiation-free endovascular therapy, and programmable soft magnetic robots capable of on-demand shape reconfiguration for navigating complex vasculature. Collectively, these systems aim to provide controllable, clinically compatible platforms for targeted therapy and minimally invasive intervention. Building on this foundation, my future research direction focuses on implantable wireless optogenetic devices for neurodegenerative diseases—such as Parkinson’s disease, depression, and epilepsy—emphasizing long-term neural recording, closed-loop neuromodulation, and ultra-minimally invasive implantation strategies. This marks my transition from micro-robotics toward neurobiomedical engineering, motivated by the opportunity to translate device-level innovation into tangible therapeutic impact. Beyond my core research, I am broadly interested in bioelectronic interfaces, wireless power transfer, neural engineering, smart materials, closed-loop control systems, and the translation of engineering innovations toward clinical application. My long-term goal is to bridge fundamental engineering advances with real-world healthcare needs, developing technologies that can meaningfully improve patient outcomes.
