Jingyi Shi is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Shi’s research focuses on ion channels that important in heart and brain function. Her research is focus on the structure function relationship of these ion channels which will provide ion channel working mechanism and the bases for understanding neurological disorders and cardiac arrhythmia and for developing new drug therapy. Another Dr. Shi’s interest is to use mechanic sensitive ion channels as a base to develop a sonogenetic approach to noninvasively stimulate the heart, brain and other tissues using ultrasound. Dr. Shi received Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from State University of New York at Stony Brook and a post-doctoral training at Stanford University. Shi was an Research Scientist in the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University before moving to St. Louis in 2004
