Vipul Gujrati received his Master’s in Pharmacy in 2006 from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India, after which he worked as a research scientist at Torrent Pharmaceuticals LTD in India. From 2010 to 2014, he completed a Ph.D. (Gold Medal) on the development of bioengineered drug delivery nanocarriers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in South Korea, where he stayed as a Postdoctoral researcher. In May 2016 he joined the Technical University of Munich (TUM) as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Chair of Biological Imaging (CBI). At TUM, as a Scientific lead he was involved in H2020- projects for developing and studying biological and synthetic nanostructures for advanced imaging (Photoacoustics and Fluorescence) and drug delivery. In June 2022 he joined H e l m h o l t z Z e n t r u m m ü n c h e n (HMGU) as Research Group Leader in the Institute for Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI). His research interests relate to the development of multi-functional nano-carriers for sensing, imaging, and drug delivery (Theranostics). One of his aims is to develop novel nano-based tools to understand the pathobiology of disease as well as to improve disease diagnosis, drug delivery, and therapy monitoring. Research Interests: Cell biology, Molecular biology, Pharmacology and toxicology, Biophotonics (Photoacoustics and fluorescence imaging), Bio-materials, Nano-particles, Drug-delivery and Theranostics (Cancer, Immune, and Regenerative therapy).
