Cleocin (clindamycin) is a lincosamide antibiotic supplied — rather than directly manufactured — by VuRoyal (SuQian) Pharmaceutical Company LLC, used to treat respiratory tract, skin/soft tissue and bone infections caused by sensitive bacteria by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis; it is active against gram-positive bacteria and some anaerobes. It is contraindicated in lincomycin allergy, carries a risk of gastrointestinal side effects including pseudomembranous enteritis, and requires caution in pregnancy, lactation and liver dysfunction. It is sold across North America and Central/South America.
