This jet mill achieves very fine particle sizes, down to below 5 microns, without grinding media: particles fed through a Venturi injector are accelerated by compressed air, nitrogen, argon or steam jets and reduced purely through repeated inter-particle collision as they swirl in a vortex, continuing until their remaining energy is negligible. The resulting micronized particles are carried by the spent gas into a cyclone filter, where fabric filter bags dedust the exhaust air before it is released, leaving the micronized product behind.
