Dr Benjamin Smith is an accomplished research leader and administrator with a demonstrated history of building high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams to answer questions at the interface of the chemical and biological sciences. Trained as a toxicologist and natural product chemist, he has worked across industry, academia and government in a range of different roles and diverse research fields. His current research interests fall into 3 key areas: - Toxicology and consumer benefit-risk assessment (specific interest in genotoxicty, gastrointestinal toxicity & sensory toxicity) - Non-animal models for studying nutritional and toxic effects of chemicals - Toxinology and animal communication and defense behaviors
