These dissolvable microcarriers boost process yields while dropping into existing workflows, moving from a research-grade product for early development to a GMP-grade version for clinical use. Cell harvesting efficiency and viability exceed 90%, sharply cutting cell loss compared with the roughly 50% typical of non-dissolvable microcarriers. A purity-controlled, traceable denatured collagen coating (ISO-22442) mimics physiological cell-surface interactions to promote attachment and growth, and the carriers have been validated across adherent cell types including MSCs, iPSC/ESC-derived cells and producer lines such as Vero, CHO and HEK in various culture platforms and bioreactors. Dissolution completes within 15 minutes using standard culture reagents, enabling efficient harvesting and easy integration into existing expansion systems. The research-grade version uses sodium alginate cross-linked with calcium ions, offers over 5,000 cm2/g of culture area, an average particle diameter of 170-250 micron, and a coefficient of variation of 10% or less, with instructions provided for use in well-plates and spinner flasks.
