Adrián Luguera Ruiz (ALR) was born in Madrid (Spain) in 1993. He received his BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Organic Chemistry from Complutense University of Madrid where he was focused on the application of organic chemistry in medicinal chemistry projects (Alzheimer and Tuberculosis diseases). At the beginning of his professional career, he received a CITIUS grant to work in Janssen as Organic Chemist in the Medicinal Chemistry department. After this internship he joined Eurofins Villapharma Research (CRO) as Associate Scientist. He received a Graduate Fellowship to work at the Medicinal Chemistry Institute (IQM-CSIC) on the synthesis of new antivirals. In 2021 he joined the PhotoGreen Lab as part of the PhotoReAct ITN receiving a Marie Curie ESR grant to pursue his PhD studies on the "Development of new uncharged precursors for photoredox-mediated radical generation", focused on photochemistry and flow chemistry to be applied on the generation of active species for the formation of C(sp3)-C(sp3) bonds. During this period he could come back to Janssen during an internship where he could gain experience on automation, flow chemistry and High-Throughput experimentation. The main research interest of ALR was in the frame of photochemical reactions and it applications in different fields, particularly in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry by developing new methods for the generation of valuable intermediates (mainly radicals) in more efficient and facile paths. ALR came back to industry where his main interest is to implement New Chemical Technologies (flow chemistry, photochemistry, HTE, HTP and automation) to accelerate Parallel Medicinal Processes on Drug Discovery projects inside GSK.
