Prof. Dr. Byung Seok Moon is a Professor in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital and Deputy Director of the Institute for Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging at Ewha Womans University Medical Center, Korea. He earned his Ph.D. in Radiochemistry from Inha University under the supervision of Prof. Dae Yoon Chi. From 2009 to 2019, Dr. Moon worked at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital as a postdoctoral, staff scientist, and QC/QA supervisor for radiopharmaceutical GMP. He joined Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital in 2019 as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Professor in 2024. Prof. Dr. Moon’s radiopharmaceutical research section on developing innovative radiolabeling methods for radioisotopes—including ¹⁸F, ¹¹C, ¹²³/¹²⁴/¹²⁵/¹³¹I, ¹⁸F₂ gas, ⁸⁹Zr, and ⁶⁸Ga—and applying them to the synthesis and clinical translation of PET and SPECT radiotracers in oncology, neurology, and cardiology. His work also includes PK/PD evaluation of emerging therapeutics using nuclear medicine and molecular imaging platforms. He is an active member of several professional societies, including the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), the Society of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences (SRS), the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine (KSNM), the Korean Chemical Society (KCS), the Korea–Japan–China (CJK) Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Association, and the Korean Society of Radiopharmaceuticals and Molecular Probes (KSRAMP). In recognition of his scientific contributions, he has received multiple national and international research awards.
