Pharmacist, peptide chemist, and academic with a PhD in medicinal chemistry. My research focuses on the discovery and development of novel antibacterial agents, particularly peptide-based therapeutics and small-molecule drug candidates. I have a strong interest in medicinal chemistry, natural product analogues, and the rational design of bioactive compounds. One of my key achievements is the development and patenting of a novel antibacterial drug candidate, which addresses the urgent global need for new antibiotics. To explore pathways for bringing this innovation to market, I was selected to participate in the iCURe program, an initiative aimed at commercialising academic research in the life sciences. My research portfolio includes work on taxobactin analogues and novel cyclic and linear peptide scaffolds with promising therapeutic potential. I enjoy bridging the gap between academic research and translational application, with a focus on addressing real-world challenges in infectious disease. In parallel with my research, I'm a lecturer at Arab Amman University, where I teach courses in pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry and supervise undergraduate research projects.
