I graduated in 2013 after completing a Master of Pharmacy degree at the University Of Nottingham. During my time as an undergraduate, I completed various summer placements notably with Sanofi, Mawdsleys and Astra Zeneca, working on a variety of research projects in departments ranging from supply chain to pharmaceutical quality management. I undertook my final year Masters project with Dr Matthew Boyd, the research involved how community pharmacists made decisions in practice and factors influencing the decision-making process. This was successfully published as an abstract in the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice 2013, I also completed a poster presentation at the RPS show in September 2013. After graduating from university, I completed my pre-registration training at North Middlesex University Hospital where I further developed my clinical pharmacy knowledge and enjoyed rotations within production units, outpatients and medicines information. I successfully passed the pre-registration exam and joined the GPhC register in 2014. After this, I then decided to go into clinical trials and worked for Quintiles as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA). I worked on phase IV clinical trials involving oncology medicines produced by Roche pharmaceuticals. Within this role, my job requirements included monitoring the clinical trials ensuring that they were run according to regulated standards, ensuring hospitals and site staff were following study protocols as required as well as using my pharmacy background to ensure all trial patients were using the investigational medicinal product appropriately. All throughout, I regularly continued to locum as a community pharmacist. After 2 years as a CRA - which had further encouraged my passion for research - I then embarked on a new challenge and successfully achieved a full-time studentship PhD at the school of pharmacy in September 2016.
