I am a full-time researcher (C2 NRF-rated since 2019) at The Centre of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacen™), North-West University (NWU). I have been promoted to Professor from 1 Jan 2024 and act as: • Sub-programme leader: Drug Delivery (2020-Current) • Chairperson of the Scientific Committee: Drug Delivery (Since 2020-Current) • Head: Cosmeceutical Research (1 of the 3 Focus Areas of Drug Delivery, which includes Transdermal and Topical Drug Delivery and the Postgraduate diploma (PG Dip) in Cosmetic Product Formulation) (2018-Current) • Manager: Transdermal and Topical Drug Delivery Laboratories (2010-Current) • Head: Pharmacen™ Skin Studies Services (2010-Current) • Internal facilitator: PG Dip (Cosmetic Product Formulation) (2017-2019; 2021-Current) In 2007, I obtained my PhD (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) at the NWU; I accepted a permanent position at the NWU as a Senior Lecturer at Pharmacen™ in 2009 and I was promoted to Associate-Professor in 2018. My field of expertise is Transdermal and Topical Drug Delivery and the formulation of nano-drug delivery vehicles (nano-emulsions, nano-emulgels, colloidal suspensions containing drug-loaded nanoparticles and vesicle systems) to optimise drug delivery of actives (pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical) into (topically and dermally) and through (transdermally) the skin; I also focus on dermal cytotoxicity and wound healing.
