Dr Paul Wren is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at ESCAPE Bio, a private biotechnology company focused on precision neurology, currently advancing novel S1P5 selective agonists and G2019S selective LRRK2 inhibitors towards patients. Previously he was a Senior Director of Clinical Development in the GSK Neuroscience Therapy Area Unit and has over 20 years Industrial experience in Neurology & Psychiatry R&D. His background is in pharmacology with a PhD from the University of Edinburgh in the pharmacology of monoamine transporters in relation to antidepressants and drugs of abuse. Over the years, Paul has transitioned from leading in vitro pharmacology functions to significant leadership roles across diverse geographical territories (US, UK, Italy & China) across the discovery, translational and clinical interfaces in areas such as the Dementias, Movement Disorders, Mood Disorders and Pain. His research interests are in identifying and prosecuting novel human relevant disease mechanisms to qualify the right drug to be given at the right dose at the right time to the right patients.
