I am Tamilselvan P, a B.Tech Biotechnology student at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Chennai, India (CGPA: 8.88, graduating May 2026). As an emerging biotechnologist, I integrate computational and experimental approaches to address complex biomedical challenges, with particular focus on drug discovery, cancer biology, and neurodegenerative diseases. My research journey spans multiple domains. At the Siddha Central Research Institute, I gained expertise in pharmacology through in-vivo studies, animal handling, and molecular techniques including DNA barcoding and PCR. At Biozone Research Technologies, I specialized in bioinformatics, focusing on molecular docking, protein preparation, and drug-target interaction analysis. My internship at Phycosol Ecotech exposed me to algal biotechnology and sustainable wastewater treatment solutions. My current research centers on computational drug discovery and repurposing. I am investigating novel therapeutic targets for Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) and exploring the synergistic mechanisms of Sorafenib and Curcumin through HSP90/TRAP1 pathway modulation. In neuropharmacology, I have developed topical apamin ointment as a neurotherapeutic strategy for early-stage Parkinson's Disease, focusing on neuroprotection and pain modulation. Additionally, I have applied machine learning approaches to genetic variant analysis for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus using IndiGenome data. I have presented my research at multiple conferences, including PSG's conference on Molecular Medicine and Multiomics Technology (September 2025) and various symposia at SVCE. My work spans in silico drug design, pharmacogenomics, agricultural biotechnology modeling, and traditional medicine validation through modern molecular approaches. My technical skill set encompasses both wet lab and dry lab techniques. I am proficient in molecular docking, protein-ligand visualization, DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, RT-qPCR, and in-vivo pharmacological studies. On the computational side, I work with Python, R, C, Java, and PERL for data analysis, statistical modeling, and bioinformatics applications. I have completed 6+ NPTEL courses from IIT (NPTEL Believer Award) and earned a foundational Data Science degree from IIT Madras. Beyond research, I am actively involved in academic leadership and extracurricular activities. I serve as Treasurer of the Student Bioscience Forum (SBF) and have held positions including Project Team Head and Vice-Captain of the Kho-Kho team. My involvement with NCC (L/CPL rank, A and B certificates holder) and memberships in ISTE, ISTD, and Rotaract reflect my commitment to holistic development and community service. My research interests lie at the intersection of computational biology, drug discovery, and translational medicine. I am particularly passionate about repurposing existing drugs for new therapeutic applications, understanding molecular mechanisms underlying complex diseases, and integrating multiomics data to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets. I aim to contribute to personalized medicine approaches through pharmacogenomics and leverage traditional medicine knowledge validated by modern scientific methods. I am seeking collaborative opportunities in drug repurposing, cancer therapeutics, neurodegenerative disease research, multiomics integration, and computational biology. My goal is to bridge the gap between computational predictions and experimental validation, ultimately contributing to therapeutic innovations that can address unmet medical needs.
