As a broad-spectrum aerobicidal quinolone antibiotic, it is used to treat urinary tract, respiratory, gastrointestinal, bone and joint, and skin and soft tissue infections, as well as typhoid and generalized infections including sepsis, typically dosed at 0.2g every 12 hours by intravenous drip (up to 0.8g/day for acute cases).
