It has antibacterial, antifungal, and keratolytic properties whose effect varies by concentration, and is widely used as a raw material for aspirin and other pharmaceuticals, as a cosmetic preservative, and in rubber, dye, and electroplating applications; samples are available, and it is sold across North America, Central/South America, Western and Eastern Europe, Australasia, and Asia.
