Professional Summary

Eng. Spec. MSc. Danny Leonardo Pinilla Silva is a Biomedical Engineer, Specialist in Industrial Mechatronics Engineering, and holds a Master’s degree in Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, with experience in applied research, robotics, automation, biomechanics, and the development of intelligent technologies focused on the integration of engineering and health sciences. For more than eight years, he has participated in the design, development, and implementation of mechatronic systems, biomedical devices, and robotic platforms applied to industrial, educational, and clinical environments. His experience includes the development of CNC Cartesian robots, large-scale 3D printers, industrial electronic control systems, motion capture platforms, biomedical sensor integration, and automation through embedded systems based on ESP32, WiFi communication, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. He currently leads the development of InerMoCaSy (Inertial Motion Capture System), a motion capture platform based on inertial sensors and three-dimensional orientation algorithms using quaternions, focused on biomechanical analysis, veterinary rehabilitation, and bio-inspired robotics. This project has enabled the integration of areas such as artificial intelligence, biomechanics, signal analysis, and collaborative robotics, promoting new research lines in human and animal motion analysis. His research activities also focus on applied nanotechnology, biosensors, biomedical signal processing, PCB design, medical 3D printing, biomechanical analysis, computer vision, and intelligent systems for clinical and educational support. He has explored the application of generative artificial intelligence, neural networks, and computational simulation to optimize control, learning, and decision-making processes in robotic and biomedical systems. In the academic field, he has served as a professor at institutions such as Universidad Agraria de Colombia, Universidad Manuela Beltrán, Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina, and Politécnico Internacional, teaching courses related to electronics, programming, sensors and actuators, biomedical devices, dynamic systems, robotics, automation, and applied biomedical engineering design. He has also participated as a project advisor and evaluator in research and technological development initiatives. He has experience in biomedical instrumentation, preventive and corrective maintenance of medical and dental equipment, metrological control, healthcare service compliance, and the development of interdisciplinary technological solutions. He is proficient in modeling and simulation tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Proteus, and Python, as well as modern automation and artificial intelligence platforms. Complementing his professional background, he has practiced Karate for approximately 30 years and holds a black belt. He also served in the Ejército Nacional de Colombia in 2004 as a communications dispatch soldier, achieving the rank of Dragoneante. This combination of technical education, academic experience, and personal discipline has strengthened his approach toward leadership, innovation, and the development of technological solutions with social and scientific impact.
