Professional Summary

I am a research-track faculty member (Associate Project Scientist Step II) at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. I obtained both my BS and MS degrees in chemistry from Peking University. From 2000 to 2007, I completed my doctoral training with Dr. Michael Gelb at the University of Washington in Seattle, developing quantitative proteomics methods to analyze clinical samples. My desire for omics-driven biomedical research led me to a 6-year postdoctoral training in Dr. Peipei Ping’s research program at UCLA, where I developed cutting-edge proteomics approaches for the molecular phenotyping of clinical samples and model systems under healthy or cardiovascular (CV) disease conditions. I was promoted to junior faculty in 2013 and then became a research-track Project Scientist in 2016. Over the past 11 years, I have been working as a senior member of Dr. Peipei Ping’s research program. I have accumulated concrete knowledge and expertise in proteomics, mitochondrial biology, and cardiovascular diseases. I have also gained experience and skills to handle Omics big data, which largely expands my research scope with major data science-focused components. Working as a research-track faculty member in a large research group and supporting PIs who have served and are currently serving in important leadership roles at UCLA and NIH Supported Centers, I have become proficient in many administrative skills. I am familiar with platforms such as MS Teams, Github, Slack, and Google Workspace. In particular, I am quite skillful in scientific illustration and PR promotion materials, specializing in Adobe Illustration, Photoshop, and Indesign. I also have hands-on experience with video editing and web design. I am currently serving as the webmaster for both the UCLA research group homepage and the NIH Bridge2AI Center Training, Recruitment, and Mentoring Program home (www.bridge2ai-training.org).
