Professional Summary

I am an Associate Research Professor, and my research examines human and avian exposures across the exposome. I have a broad background in basic and applied toxicology, public health, and exposure science, with expertise in method development, study design and risk assessment. As PI and Co-I on university, foundation, and municipal projects, I identify environmental chemicals in various media (environmental and biological), perform toxicity assessments on novel pharma candidates, elucidate the mechanism of chemical-induced organ damage, outline potential outcomes of sea level rise and develop risk mitigation strategies for the Hillsborough County Comprehensive Plan. I have designed studies evaluating the adverse effects of industrial chemicals, environmental chemicals and licit/illicit drugs using in silico, in vivo and in vitro models. I characterize risk in stakeholder-appropriate language to explain hazards, risk and scientific uncertainties in scientific, regulatory and public settings.
